The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study will be introduced along with a discussion of types of childhood trauma and what makes an experience traumatic. Brain development and the relationship between early adverse experiences and subsequent youth health and behaviors will be presented. Rationales for developing positive relationships with youth will be explored along with a variety of strategies that provide a safe and nurturing school climate and culture that supports students. Recognition of self-care needs and techniques for those who work with traumatized youth will also be considered. Click Here for Session Handouts
