Restorative Practices in Schools are inspired by the philosophy and practices of restorative justice, which puts repairing harm done to relationships and people over and above the need for assigning blame and dispensing punishment (Eber, 2015).  This workshop will review the fundamental tenets of Restorative Practices in schools as an effective alternative to reactive discipline practices such as suspension and expulsion. A continuum of Restorative Practices, including Community Circles, Affective Statements and Questions, and Impromptu Conversations, will be reviewed within the context of MTSS. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice school-based restorative strategies that they can apply directly in their professional roles. Local Knowledge Development (KDS) sites will share their experience implementing Restorative Practices and Community Circles at in various grade level settings.  Click Here for Session Handouts
